Yeah, I’m late writing this because there was work I really needed to finish haha. But that’s okay—better late than never ✌

With this retrospective, I’m really reminding myself how much I’ve grown and what I’ve done.

Here we go, the 2022 retrospective.

Recovering from an Accident

Long story short, I had a motorcycle accident in mid-2021 which resulted in fractures in my right ankle and left wrist.

Recovery took 9 months, during which it was hard to walk and also to type.

I truly rested at home; I rarely even turned on the computer, and when typing I could only use my right hand :(

At the end of 2021, my leg and hand gradually recovered. Early 2022 I felt fully recovered and able to resume normal activities. Alhamdulillah :)

First Freelance Project

My biggest goal in 2022 was to work and earn income from home.

After officially being unemployed for 9 months due to recovery, early in the year I finally got my first freelance project—so happy!

Set Up Workspace

After getting the first freelance project, I thought, "I need to start tidying up the workspace."

My plan was to keep working from home and MAYBE start a new path—as a freelancer or content creator.

From the start of the year I gradually organized the workspace and bought equipment to support my work.

Here’s how my workspace looks right now:

Simple, as long as it’s comfortable.

Content Creation

I learned many new things as I started sharing web development topics through video content.

Basic video editing, audio recording, scripting for videos, and many other small things.

The most complicated part was the audio recording setup, especially the hardware. This was my first time, and my knowledge was limited.

But I have been thoroughly enjoying the process, and the final result has exceeded my expectations!

Personal Website

For a long time I hadn’t managed to build a personal website to take seriously, mainly due to time constraints when I worked at a company.

In Q4 2022 I finally started designing this website. It’s also a place to showcase projects I’ve built—a portfolio too 😁

And on New Year’s Eve, I changed it from a single repository to a monorepo. What for, you ask? 👀

What's Next for 2023

There’s no retrospective without 2023 resolutions. Entering 2023 with optimism—this year is full of exciting plans.

There are many things to do this year, such as:

  • fill out all content on my personal website.
  • build several new projects.
  • be more active in sharing about web development.
  • set up a hybrid workspace for comfortable work and content creation.
  • build a PC 👀

But the biggest goals are: full-time remote work and having my own SaaS.

Good luck to me!
